Created on:2021-11-12 10:45

On August 13th, 2021, the European Food Safety Authority issued an opinion on the safety evaluation of a type of catalase.

The food enzyme is produced by the genetically modified Aspergillus Niger strain DP-AZW58, which is intended for use in egg processing.

After assessment, the panel concluded that the risk of allergic and induced reactions from dietary exposure under the intended conditions of use could not be ruled out, but that the likelihood of this occurring was low. Based on the data provided, the panel concluded that the food enzyme does not pose a safety concern under the conditions intended for use.
