The EU assesses the safety of carbomer as a #new food additive

On August 11, 2021,The European Food Additives and Flavouring Agents (FAF) study group has issued a scientific opinion on the safety of a cross-linked acrylic polymer carbomer as a new food additive.After evaluation, the panel determined that exposure to carbomer would not raise a safety issue if the recommended maximum level of use for solid food supplements were reduced to the typical level of use reported by the applicant.
