The European Union assesses the safety of frozen and dried formulations from whole house crickets as a #novel food

On August 17th, 2021, the European Union Study Group on Nutrition, Novel Food and Food Allergens (NDA) issued a scientific opinion on the safety of frozen and dried formulations from whole house crickets as #novel food. After evaluation, the expert team concluded that the freeze-dried cricket preparation is safe as a new type of food under the proposed conditions of use.
